It sounds like both an airplane and a tea kettle and I love it

Nice capture 👌
So amazingly clean and shiny!
Superb😊
Great shot!
I love that they painted the cab roof white like the old royal trains had. That's real class.
Brilliant video well done great camera work as well bye for now Philip
Nice shot!
Excellent footage there Mark, off Scotsman hauling the Royal Train, I bet many people there at Darnholm?
Happy 100th ❤
Breakdown of stall.
Can someone please tell me what year this was?
There's something majestic about these things at night
Just drive through this in the snow this week and I was after a video to show my friend what it was like !! Thank you for uploading 6 years ago haha
Взять такой вес, это фантастика, браво Машинист!!!
Absolutely superb. I've become completely engrossed by the history of this line, and this is a great visualisation of it.
😎
nice vid nearly a Darth Vader horn swell
Amazing
Nice vid, I've subscribed
What game is this? Also, you might want to fix the aspect ratio, video looks a bit squeezed.
Excellent.
Excellent, thoroughly enjoyed that. Very well done, and many thanks..
Beautiful
That was well controlled.
Outstanding. Well done
Outstanding. You even included a glimpse of the gasholders at the Batts Gas Works. Brilliant. Would it be possible to show the reversing manoeuvre used by trains leaving Whitby Town Station for Scarborough via Prospect Hill junction and the West Cliff Station?
Thanks Mark. I've walked the Cinder Track and now "ridden" it courtesy of your video. Thanks for sharing.
These simulations are outstanding. Rain on the windscreen with the wipers? Very, very creative!
I watched this when I was researching my latest video on the Scarborough & Whitby Railway. I hadn't realised you created it, Mark - great effort! I've added a link to it in my video's description.
Thank you, Hopefully I'll build a little further when time permits
The bridge you see at the end of the video still exists, but it is actually private property now, owned by the house on the right. They grassed over the bridge and is it now a garden! Funny thing about the bridge is you cannot go underneath it as it is blocked with steel. Nothing weird about this at first - but it is public land on BOTH sides hence it is perfectly legal to walk from one side to the other, a 10 minute walk!
Why did it stop? The safety valves lifted almost immediately so not short of steam.
Could you do one of a DMU from Whitby West Cliff to Scarborough
I've only built as far as Ravenscar and apart from around stations the scenery is incomplete, I'm putting a quick video together to show progress so far and I've used a DMU for you
Thanks very much, Mark, looking forward to watching it, I lived in Scarborough many years ago, but never got to ride on the last train from Whitby to Scarborough
Was this after the Grinkle tunnel?
I'm not surprised you left out Skinningrove Tarmac Works which lay just before the site of Huntcliff mine on the way from Skinningrove. There are very few pictures of it or the aerial roadway from the steel works.
What year is this set, as in the real world Loftus mine closed in 1958?
bloody hell fire green arrow really miss this engine we want her back in traffic hope ur listening nrm in york get her restored along side scotsman
Nothing wrong with that restart, only one slip and well controlled.
That is a delicious train!
So, it didn't stall, it was halted by the communication cord being pulled and it pulled away on the incline more or less cleanly. Good job. Nice video as well.
This is what happens when you get boys to do a man's job. They are ALL inexperienced. EXPENSIVE.
Unfortunately this was green arrow when the coach emergency break handle was pulled nothing to do with the crew
You couldn’t be any more wrong with that statement 😂
We didn't actually get on the High Line then!
Only as far as permitted
@@NorthYorkshireCoastRail One trip I did we went all the way down the high line!
Can anyone imagine the pressure in that boiler, 250 Psi ? That’s per square inch.
it looks like the start of old tomas the tank
The tyres look like they're doing a great job. I'm looking for either all season tyred or winter tyres for my A4 Allroad. Do you think these tyres would be fine on the mountain passes in the Lake District? Or would you go for full on Winter tyres?
They did a great job in deep snow and on hard packed ice on steep hills and tight corners when driven carefully, The car was a 1.5 Impreza with AWD and low ratio box so when combined with the Goodyears it got me anywhere, I kept them on all Summer but they did tend to squeal and sound a bit Hollywood when cornering hard on hot roads
Great video really enjoyed it!
For 100% accuracy at Skinningrove Halt the zig-zag shouldn't be entering the station area under the same bridge as the Whitby line as it was about a hundred feet or so to the left at the point it crossed under the road and in a cutting. And linked to the first point the parallel tracks didn't start until after the platform had been cleared.
Thankyou, At the time of building all I had was a drawing in a book for reference, I'll take another look in a future rebuild
@@NorthYorkshireCoastRail try the National Library of Scotland's online collection of old maps.
Sorry Neil but you are VERY WRONG. I personally have lived here since 1945 , am a local historian and the Train DID pass under the bridge prior to the station. It is NoT the same line as the present day Potash Train or the Whitby line you refer too. You are assuming Wrongly that it is. There were 2 lines side by side coming into Carlin How Station. Both coming in above the Hairpin bend from the zig zag. I have Been on them, Walked them many times. The middle line DID run into the valley low down but came back up an incline to attain the height for the DOUBLE bridges and passed under the bridge on the lower of the 2 lines which continued side by side right into Skinningrove works. Thats a fact.
@@NorthYorkshireCoastRail No need to change it Mark. Your simulation is almost as good as it could be. See reply to Neil. Your video is the tops. Take it from one who has walked those paths and lines for over 70 years. Ignore the old maps mentioned in Scotlands archives and trust the ones from around here including the photographic evedence. 1000s of men around here have seen it and can testify. Well done , a superb part of our history brought to life by your simulation. Keep up the good work. Derick.
@@derickpearson1078 well going by the 1927 25 inch OS map (available in the National Library of Scotland's website) there were 2 lines leaving Carlin Howe the western one went over Kilton Beck embankment after passing through Skinningrove Skinningrove Halt and the western one went down the zig-zag to the mines at Skinningrove. The two lines came together just north of the station. Apart from the removal of the embankment after August 1963 and the building of the new viaduct the Boulby line is on the same alignment as the Cleveland Railway as clearly can be seen by comparing the modern OS maps with the historic ones.
WERE CAN I BUY THIS GAME PLEASE?
I heard a rumour that there's a train buried in the viaduct of kilton
Quite possible the chassis of the one which ran away and turned over in the valley. It may well have been easier to dissmantle part and leave part than try to bring it back from there. I heard some stories of a similar nature.
@@derickpearson1078 what side of the valley would it have fallen into
@@Cinnerman87 It could only fall into the valley one way from the Zig Zag line as the lines were on the slopes of the East side of the shale mountain built to fill in the valley under the viaduct and of course it dropped a 100 or so feet down "from the present day line level" into the valley where the stream and culvert ran underneath. If you know the area and LOFTUS BANK, it would be as follows.... As you leave Carlin How go down under the Balfour Beaty road bridge toward the Hairpin Bend, on the very tight curve of the bend walk straight ahead on the gravel path toward the wood. as you enter the wood path, walk about 200 yards and the Train that ran away would be on your left looking down toward the stream which goes under the road at the bottom of Loftus bank at the mill. When I was child there were still Coal Cakes (round pressed lumps of coal) scatterered about. If you look from on top of the viaduct at Liverton side as it is now, you would look towards the coast and Skinningrove village to see the area the train eventually came to rest. If you know where the North East end of the culvert is..you would look up the shale mountain from the culvert about 50 foot to the right to the location. I hope this helps. I have some photos with great detail on them. I will if you wish post some on facebook later. Which will show clearly all the events spoke of in the above comments.
